Commercial Audio

1997 - 2004 (Rosnick/MacKinnon)

During this stretch, most of my time was spent recording and mixing television and radio spots for industry-leading, Toronto based, commercial audio production and sound design company Rosnick/MacKinnon. Ted (Rosnick) And Steve (MacKinnon) were very creative and wonderful to work with.  It was a nice long run that saw my ears fall upon way too many spots (and versions thereof) to remember. Both of these characters had the ability to surround themselves with people who knew what the hell they were doing and frankly, the product spoke for itself!

1992 - 1997 (H.E.A. Productions)

When not working on records, H.E.A. Productions was my home. Susan Hamilton, my dear friend and phenomenal music producer, kept my schedule full working on U.S. television commercials for the likes of Coca-Cola, Revlon, Dr. Pepper and numerous Super-Bowl extravaganza's. She introduced me to all the amazing session cats (Landau, Pierce, Thompson, Castro , Sclar, Hey...) and was a dream to observe dealing with the agency executives who didn't know what they wanted until she told them. Sadly, Susan left us in 2022 and the world 's a far lesser place now. R.I.P. Susan (Betty Rake). With love, Richard (Buddy Bad).

1985 - 1997 (Dominic Morrissey Productions)

Dominic gave me my first start as an engineer. He was a commercial audio producer/writer in Toronto and was also working on the odd album. I was assisting on a record he was producing and the engineer couldn't seem to get the drum sound they were looking for. Long story short, I was asked if I could 'fix' things and the next day I was behind the desk and no longer getting coffee, cleaning floors and sleeping on the studio couch.  We worked and hung out together for many years. Thanks Dom, you took a chance and I'm forever gratefull.
